February 2009

The group makes a steady ascent up the cliff side and approaches the entrance of the dragon’s lair. The cave entrance is approximately 80′ high and 100′ wide. In the rear of the cave is a pile of over 100,000 coins. Mostly silver and electrum pieces. No magic emanates from the pile. Moving on the group finds themselves in a large cave with four tunnels leading in opposite directions. There are also many small alcoves with pristine statues in each. The group explores one of the center tunnels and discovers that it quickly connects back to the other center passage. Both end in a large room with yet another pile of treasure. There is also a desk that has several copies of the same map that leads to this lair. “It’s a trap!” someone exclaims. At the same time the group turns to discover two large green dragons flanking them from either passage. Both breath huge clouds of green gas ad flap their wings to push the foul poison into the room. Bix and Catfish John fall dead immediately. Greenleaf and Max are protected as they both are wearing necklaces of adaptation. Greenleaf retreats beyond one of the dragons to find a group of humans guarding the exit. On the second release of the dragon’s breath both Ralek and Nimble Dick fall dead from the cloud of death. Greenleaf and Thud quickly drink potions of gaseous form and float away. Max gives Ronj a gaseous form potion and drinks one for himself.
The four remaining members regroup outside on the cliff side. They then return to Thudheim in defeat…

The group gathers as much treasure as can be carried including thousands of gold, platinum and electrum pieces. Each member also takes 22,000 in precious jewelery.
With the treasure packed the group returns to the Desert City. Again they take up residence in the rectory in the Belliallian Temple. It is there that Thud takes a knife and cuts Navarro’s throat. Navarro bleeds out dead in front of the rest of the group. Thud states that Navarro was plotting against him. He knows this because of his magical helm. Max uses the ring of truth to confirm that Thud is telling the truth. This is what happens to those that would try to betray the EFK!
The group leaves Navarro’s body where it fell and heads into the city. Greenleaf guides the group to where Crusty’s Tavern used to be. As the group enters, a troll is seen serving drinks at the bar. The group drops over 1500 gp and are given a private room. Later that day they are visited by the famous dwarf himself, Crusty.
He tells the group that reginald the troll would make a good guide to the city. The next day Reginald is hired to escort the group to specialty shops. Party members acquire magic items, components and supplies. A map of a Red Dragon’s Lair is also purchased by Max and Greenleaf. The group equips themselves with fire resistance items and sets off to find the Red Dragon.
Several weeks later brings the group to the base of the mountain range depicted in the Dragon Map.
