After spending a few weeks in Arabel, the group decides to try and obtain an adventuring charter. Inquiries direct the party to the Dancing Dragon, where they plan on interviewing prospective employers. On the way there, they witness a muggin and decide to give chase. The victim is rescued and the assailants are chased until they produce a cloud of smoke and evade capture.
The city watch is summoned and statements are given. As the watch details the contents of the occupants purce, the cleric asks for a copy of the contents and the guard is obliging enough, believing the letter to be a load of bollock juice. The group journeys on and eventually is hired by the trading coster with whom they did business earlier.
The letter and the enclosed map reference a name and a location not too far distant. Some investigation and a great deal of riding about on horseback eventually leads the party to a circular stone disc, some 20 feet in diameter…smooth and featureless. Some scratching of heads ensues and a few ideas are tossed about until someone asks…why don’t we just break it?”. Righty-o then. They pulverise the center of the disc using the paladin’s crown of blasting and discover a hatch. They pry open the hatch and release a blast of stale and fetid air.
They descend and enter a series of rooms. They pause to investigate each one, only to be attacked by a statue in a room filled with book-laden bookshelves. They defeat the stone golem and pause for a moment to take stock of the situation.
