Earache my Eye!

arcane_eyeFollowing up with the War Wizards in Suzail, the intrepid heroes barter intellect devourer parts for spells and hopefully information – but little is forthcoming from that quarter. The Cormyrians have plenty of intrigue within their borders and see no need to worry about external affairs for the moment.
A journey to see PEarsay in Sembia is a bit more rewarding as a powerful spell is obtained in exchange for the trove of mind flayer writings.
Additional information is revealed – namely that the mace of faiths was originally in the hands of a monastic sect in the Thunderpeaks.
Thus it is decided and the group tears off for parts more local than the desert of liches. They journey by mount and by flying and lawyering until they arrive in the area...

Brains…brains!

Grell3e

Passing through the stone door, they encounter some undead in a snake-carved pillar filled room. There is also a spell casting, tentacled brain flying around trying to destroy the party, It dispels much of the party’s magic before blasting them with a lightning bolt. Although Jaco is rendered unconscious by the electrical discharge, the creature is slain by Goldpiece and the magic missiles of the mages, and the cleric is subsequently revived by the druid. The area is explored and it is interesting to note that one avenue of exit is blocked by a wall of apparent crystal. Strange.

They move on to encounter some sort of temple of death – complete with jarred skeletons and an ominous black pool...

The wyverns are vanquished but the troubles are not over. The sounds of battle have attracted a mob of cultists who rush the party along a narrow corridor – which earns them a lightning bolt for their troubles. Hot on their heels – and apparently unphased by huge amounts of electricity – are a pack of stick thin humanoids covered in acidic slime. They begin battling the party by casting dispel magic on the flying party members, managing to bring down a few. While they battle, these demons summon allies and soon the chamber is thick with the evil creatures. The cleric of Meilikki is brought down and gored by spears, but his noble death allows the rest to retreat a bit.
Some rest and repair in the extra-dimensional hidey-hole and they re-emerge to seek the object of their quest...

Following up on the shift in party composition, Goldpiece, Malchor, Thelonius and Elulyn go on the road and travel to meet Pearsay near Urlamspyr. They pick up a tip about a possible location for a litch they have been feuding with for the past few years. While on the road to the deserted desert they see a band of traveling hill giants but decide to avoid any contact.

A day or so later thry come across the remnants of a ruined caravan and find a map while rooting around. It seems to match the general area and the group is elated to see a large cavern opening. They camp and keep watch, looking to see if there are any comings or goings…

Bone tower? I thought you said bone power!

The intrepid group careens through passages and chambers. They find a whole lot of what the hell is going on, and a fair amount of what the hell is trying to kill me. A yellow mold infested library nearly takes the life of Elulyn. A pack of gargoyles nearly takes the life of Malchor. Vaults, crypts, kitchens and a brewery are found and investigated. An armory is guarded by an iron golem and there are more murderous gargoyles to face before the group is depleted and has to call it a day/night/whatever.
The following day starts off with an unfortunate encounter with an undead ooze that drains energy levels from Paladin,Monk, Mage and Cleric (oh noes!). Carrying on their weakened state the group decides they cannot rest and must press on lest time run out...
