Mushroom mushroom! Snaaaaake its a snaaaaake…

Slaying the noisy shrooms, the group waits for a bit to see if anyone comes calling. After a few minutes have passed, they venture onward and find themselves in a high-ceilinged cavern of sorts. Within seconds it becomes clear that this is some sort of spider lair. It isn’t too hard to figure out, given that huge spiders begin raining out of the sky onto the cleric and company. The spiders are dispatched swiftly and exploration is undertaken. A bit of looping around and finding out that passages meet sets them on the final lap of investigation.
Strange monsters are slain, and the blood-drained husks of missing people from the village are found. It turns out that one of the corpses is the local cleric of Freya. Of the missing ranger, there is no sign.
The group investigates and finds a very well concealed door that is difficult to open. Once opened it reveals a chamber of horrors. The chief constable – or what is left of him – is chained to a table. Bits have been removed and replaced…arms for tentacles and that sort of thing. Off to the side, a mage lets fly with a fireball. The party scoffs at her feeble magic and slays her swiftly. Exploration is undertaken the the plunderables are plundered, and it seems there is a wizardly hidey hole here deep in the mine. Furthermore, there is a well concealed door that leads out of the lair to parts unknown. The slain wizard bears an uncanny resemblance to the master of the local manor house – albeit the gender is different. Could this be Milo’s sister…aunt…cousin? Whatever the case may be, a visit to the estate is in order. But first – the cleric slays the tortured constable, hacks off and gouges out the after-market parts, then raises him from the dead and heals him of all his injuries. Badda-bing, badda-boom…Torm is in the house!
Taking the weakened cleric and newly restored constable into their protection, the group escorts them back to the village and sees them safely behind the palisade. The return of the group and the missing townsfolk raises morale considerably. Having seen the rescue effort to a successful conclusion, the group rests overnight. The next day they plan on visiting Master Milo’s estate for some answers, then back to the mine to investigate the long and winding road.
