Now it gets interesting…we hate interesting

Lion Headed Humanoids

Motoring along, the group explores empty rooms and rooms with lingering signs of violence. THey zig and zag in seemingly random directions and there are multiple queries about the sanity of the builders. The process is uneventful, with doors being opened and rooms inspected for clues and/or loot. For a while, the most exciting thing to happen is Fingers locating a trap before it is triggered.

As the meander along, one door opens into an occupied bedroom with a training area attached. The occupant is a stocky elven woman and she seems to dislike uninvited guests. DIgin hews at her and barely leaves a dent. Fingers stabs her in the ankle and does no visible damage, but still manages to inject a dose of deadly toxin...

Where’s all the dark elves at?

Giant Scorpions

The party decides to avoid backtracking and just starts moving in a direction until there are no more options. They find a live orc, hiding in a storage closet, but his life is snuffed out in the time it takes Digin to swing an axe. Forward motion brings them into a new area, characterized by brightly lit rooms, devoid of shadows. There are secret doors and traps a-plenty and at one point they find themselves in a room they entered earlier, but from a different direction. Bayga starts to hallucinate a bit and starts some conspiracy minded talk about being trapped in Undrowmountain and the rest of the group has to drag him back into the current crisis. There is an extended battle with scorpions, spiders and bloodthirsty beetles, but the group is victorious...

Shake, Rattle and Kill

Bearded Dragon Man

The next few days pass in a bit of a blur. Every waking hour is a variant on the following script:

  • Investigate corridor.
  • Look for secret doors.
  • Check visible doors for traps.
  • No traps detected.
  • Fingers opens the door.
  • Save against lightning!

Between opening trapped doors, there are plenty of regular doors and a huge supply of stirges and hellish looking rats. There are rooms with sigils carved into bronze plates and rooms with interesting pillars. Barracks, guard posts, workshops and smithies are discovered. There is a brief foray into an area that seems to be staffed by trap-making bugbears, but the group reverses direction. The halls are well constructed, surpassing even the abilities of the dwarves, though Digin is loath to admit as much...

Pactlord, shmacktlord!

Bearded Dragon Man

After some time negotiating with the ruby-armed Inverted Pyramid contact, the group realizes that they’ll have to pony up the funds to get planeshifted to carry out their revenge tour if they want the Pyramid to help. Seems that the group’s utility has waned in light of their abdication of the Banewarrens key. The pyramid is scrambling to find a new attack vector to bring about a shift in the city political structure and they are interested in utilizing the group’s proclivities to bring that about – but the prospect of facing off against vampire(*s?) doesn’t make them very happy.
Other ideas are examined and discarded, and in the end it is news of a newly opened portion of the below-ground dungeons that sets them on their next path.

Renewing their Delver’s Guild memberships, they peruse ...

Silence!

Witch on Throne

As the cheery throne occupier waves to the group, the homicidal instincts kick in! Bayga blankets the room with silence spells while the rest of the group tries to engage with missiles and spells. There are a couple of dodgy moments since the witch is ensconced in protective spells, but the group’s onslaught is determined and unrelenting. In the end, she is slain and an infernal claw rises from the earth to drag her body and soul to the hells. Some looting and a lot of scooting sees them retrace their steps to DeVost, where the witch queen’s crown is turned over to the chef. Looks like little to nothing will be happening until the winter storms blow over and this is unacceptable to the adrenaline junkies.

Back into the blizzards they go, using protective magic and the hut to keep themsel...
