Turns out, very little comes next. The group does some light looting and poking about and finds a charred tome, held by an equally charred corpse with a cranial implant. There is some discussion and the realization that several of the zombies they animated are also wearing Chaositek stuff, which raises many questions, but no answers.

They dismember the enhanced zombies and swiftly ride back to Ptolus to deliver the news. The Defense Council is a bit bewildered, as the reports indicated a more – impressive – tome, but still, the rift is closed. Kudos all around. They appreciate the swift attention to important matters.

With that, the group returns to manor living. Some identification of items, some leisurely dithering and strategic loot splitting, then Kael is the beneficiary of a half-dozen “spare” magic items held by other party members…he knows he made a good choice.

Meanwhile the group upgrades their Delver membership to top tier and Bayga looks for clues about a delver named Wexler, certain that this is the assassin in the brothel. He knows another name attached to the attempt on his life – but he does not recognize it. Which of his many enemies would want him dead today? Conundrum.

There are the usual background grumbles in the city…string of elvish murders, various cultists, a stranger giving away magic ability and the subsequent crime wave that triggered…you know, the usual.

Before too long, the council has another issue that might be something, or it might be nothing. The wine country has been underperforming, and now that imports from the east are cut off due to the ravaging undead horde choking the land, it might be important not to lose a source of alcohol.

A boat is provided and soon the group is back in Trolone. Bayga does some chin-wagging with the family and Kael visits his connections to see what other information might be forthcoming. A wagon is purchased and stocked and the group leisurely travels into the vineyards to get an accounting of the troubles.
