Castle in the Sky

From Thudheim, Max and Greenleaf travel top Waterdeep. Grim news hangs in the air as seers and magicians predict the destruction of the city.
Back in Thudheim a new group forms. Along with Thud, Max and Greenleaf, new members include an elven bard named Zappa, a barbarian named DaNog, an orange robed monk named Ronj and a mysterious human cleric. The newly formed group decides to cut their teeth on a small adventure and set out to deal with a band of orcs. On the way the group observes a giant tumbling castle in the sky that appears to be on a collision course with Waterdeep.
In addition there is a flock of Griffins making an assault on the castle with a group pterydons making a defense of the only reasonable spot to land. The group uses magical means to board the castle through a side tower. Upon entry they find a storm giant who tells them to take all that they want but just stop the castle from crashing to the ground. He then losses his balance and flies out a window and is gone. The party finds a spike in the ceiling. Tied to the spike is a rope that extends from the tower to the precipice protected by the pterydons. Most of the group is able to traverse the rope except the new bard who has vertigo and motion sickness. As the pterydons notice the group, Max unleashes a fireball from his helm and destroys them.
The group enters the hall taking arrow fire from several barbarians within. At the other end the group moves into a larger hall and observes a spinning cube in the center of the room. Max plucks another gem from his helm and hurls it at the cube. With a tremendous crack their world turns inside out and the party finds themselves on the castle floating in the green abyss of the ethereal plane. There is no gravity and the group discovers that locomotion is caused by thought. Traveling around the castle the party finds several potions and a scroll. The scroll contains a spell of plane shift. Deciding not to further explore the ethereal plane the group forms a circle and holds hands as the scroll is read. With a flash the group finds themselves back in their own lands. With a little research, Max and Greenleaf discover that Waterdeep is fine and that the castle disappeared when they traveled to the ethereal plane.
The group begins to travel back to the orc palisade. Greenleaf and Max travel ahead to scout the stronghold. They decide to take matters into their own hands begin casting weather summoning spells combined with call lightning spells. Things get a bit out of hand and a funnel cloud forms. Max is sucked into the air and thrown across the valley barely escaping death. Greenleaf hangs on to a tree while lightning rains down. The palisade is destroyed with a strike of a giant lightning bolt. The druids are lucky to survive their own wrath.
