Don’t get a head of yourself

Pausing to take 10 and plunder the library, the vastness of the task is daunting. In the end, only the scrolls that were separated from the rest and placed on the librarian’s table are even considered. When the first one turns out to be a guide to the Abyss, the group kinda freaks and makes haste to depart.
They roll into the hall and open the remaining untrapped door to reveal a conference room of sorts. Dalliance opines that whatever is within is unimportant since it is clear that Blasphemy is not within.
The wand of Negation is produced and wielded liberally upon the trapped double doors. The group pushes past and finds themselves in a large room, covered in elaborate and demonic decor. The room is dominated by a throne – made from a defiled altar from the church of Lathander. It is inverted and fitted with pillows. Acting as chair bearers are a quartet of angels, shackled and imprisoned.
They beg the party to slay them, but are kind enough to provide warning that they will attack with everything that they have. The party erects a globe of invulnerability – sufficient to deflect the creature’s magical attacks. The fact that they are chained to the throne limits their mobility quite a bit – which plays to Barada’s strength and he feathers most of them with +3 arrows till they die. The last one is finished off in a group attack – so the stain of angel slaying lies upon all of them.
One angel has a key, and the elvish eyes of the druid reveal a secret keyhole in a bad-relief of a mountain of bloody skulls. The secret door is opened and the group finds themselves in an L-shaped hallway whose walls are lined with hundreds of severed heads in eerily lit glass jars. Every few seconds one of the heads ‘awakens’ and screams out the tale of its demise. It seems they have all perished in bloodsports held for the pleasure of Blasphemy. The group feels that they may be close to the object of their quest and girds themselves…
