On the face of it, it would seem like spending the night in a vampire and wight infested tower would be a bad idea. Even the fearless party members must concede as much. So, they make their way back out of the tower, stopping only briefly to loot the one chest seen so far. It yields a paltry sum of platinum, two gems and a flat metal statuette.
They emerge into the open tower, deploy a rope, climb up it and pull it in behind them. They emerge in the pre-dawn and flee the tower using all available means.
They travel a few hours then make camp and discuss what to do.
Dalliance uses powerful magic to set Ron’j! right. The group regroups and plans the inevitable assault. Leaving is briefly discussed, but the general sense of the situation seems to be…’well, we’re here now, so…’

The next dawn the group hikes into the deep gorge and goes to investigate the low out-building that abuts the tower. They only encounter some strange mushrooms of unconsciousness that they decide to avoid for the moment. They hike around the far side of the tower and plan the assault now that it seems there is no lower opening. They stand back as far as the canyon walls will allow and cast rock to mud to dissolve the lower floor of the tower. The gaping hole reveals a large opening surrounded by a wooden catwalk, crammed with bookshelves, chairs, bedroom furniture and the like. Hanging some 40 feet above the catwalk and floating in midair is a huge heart that flickers with an undying black flame. Dalliance is alarmed and lets fly with various and sundry destructive spells and the heart drops out of the air and plummets into the space below the catwalk.
This prompts some movement – and several wights start to assemble and start to burn with a strange blue flame. They exit the ruined tower and head towards the party. Barada skewers them with magical arrows and they explode in gouts of fire.

Demming starts the process of summoning an elemental while the rest of the group looks nervously about. ZOT! – A lightning bolt exits the tower and fries Demming and Ti’karu. Dalliance projects an image and peers into the tower, revealing a darkly dressed individual pointing a wand at the party. Demming throws up a wall of stone to shelter the party. The group observes a pair of flesh golems exit the tower and head towards the wall. They round the wall and are assaulted by Bud, Ron’j! and Oryndel. More wights gather in the recesses of the tower and Dalliance has at them with an Undeath to Death. The group advances and confronts a trio of vampires. While a wight assassin with hands coated in virulent contact poison appears in the midst of the party and tries to assassinate Dalliance. Undeath to Death undoes them. ZOT!! as another lightning bolt strikes the party. The darkly dressed man is hovering in midair and seems irked at the party’s refusal to just die. Dalliance’s U2D overcomes his magic resistance and the threat – for the moment – is neutralized. A giant dragon heart lies at the bottom of a huge pit and a tower full of undead stretches above them. What to fool with first?

Well there is another two factions we have pissed off. Add the Dragon cult and the Vampires union to the black lists we are on.

    …and the Zhentarim…and Tomorast (maybe)…and the lich…and Zagig…and probably a few others along the way…
