Spending the next nine months in focused activity, the mages prepare an arsenal of scrolls. Goldpiece resumes his role in the party and discusses tactics with Mr T. Once the magical artillery is prepared, there is a brief round of planning. They leave the Airship behind and use the mage’s abilities to teleport to the location of their ignoble retreat/defeat. The group has prepared well. Mind blank spells are in effect on each party member so the telepathic entity cannot sense their approach. They are awash in protection spells – the better to soak up large fireballs and prevent possession – and then they are off!

The actual battle is a bit anticlimactic. Accessing the hidden chamber with a passwall spell allows them to gain the element of surprise. They burst into the room and begin dealing mass damage with Goldpiece and Mr. T hacking away. Within a few moments, the strange gramcatcher of skin and bones has been hacked into pieces. Sure, there are a few flesh golems and a mummy to defeat, but these are no match for the souped up group and they are also swiftly defeated. One last round of looting and then it is time to return to the Tormite mound.

After a few days, the group is bored and looking for something else to do. Digging through their collective memories, they recall a bit of lore related to a location in the Pirate Isles. With nothing but time and nearly limitless resources, the group spends time in the airship, cruising the seas and investigating the legend of the Squigglespok. Weeks go by with nothing but the occasional change of direction and a restocking of the liquor cabinet. More legends are investigated and a few snippets of rhyme are unearthed. These shape subsequent investigations and a few more months pass as they try to dig up any relevant information. Eventually they piece together enough information to investigate an island called ‘The turtle’. They locate the ring of stone mushrooms and intuit that braziers must be filled and lit, incense should be burned and so on. A quick teleport back to Suzail for the necessary ingredients and then they are ready.

Incense and braziers are lit and the mushroom ringed pool begins to shimmer. They dive in and are whisked away to another plane.
