Ruined runes… Here comes the fire!

The group appears in a circular room with one door. Through the door and down a hall brings the group to a room with a curtain across the opposite wall. A light mist fills the room. Magic is detected in the general area. Behind the curtain there is a hall that leads to a room with an alter. On the other side of the room is a black marble door woven with strands of gold. Da’Nog enters and disappears. Then Zapa enters and disappears. Max uses the crystal ball and discovers that they are not in the same place. After several hours Da’Nog reappears drained and weak. In his hand is a strand of gold. Several minutes later a spindle of gold appears and falls to the floor. Part of it is the face of Zapa. He is wiped from existence. It is as if he had not been with the group for a long time. The party travels on rather confused and one member shorter. On to another long passageway that ends in a set of double doors. The doors are stone. Carved on the front reads “Doors of Persistence”.
The group rests and then heads back to the circular room. They are teleported back to the first circular room. Out of the room and down a stairway. The group travels to a hallway that has a large ruby on a pedestal. The ruby eminates strong magic. On to a room with a fountain. Thud and Ralek suddenly drink from the fountain. Tattoo’s appear on their forearms. On thud is a shield while on Ralek is a scroll. Both are magical. Down another hall where Thud opens a door. Suddenly he disappears and reappears. He feels much more nimble as his dexterity has been raised to 18. On to a mud cavern with a wood landing on the opposite side. Max casts spider climb and crawls across the wall. When he arrives at the landing he ties a rope. Thud and Ronj cross. When they try to open the door from the landing it is false. suddenly mud figures rise from the floor and begin hurling hand-fulls of mud. Max spider climbs back and Thud and Ronj barely make it.
The group backtracks to the fountain intersection. Down another passage and then down a set of stairs into a room with a large alter on the far wall. An inky black light fills the room. Down another passage into a room with a stone dragon head and a circle of runes. Max finds a lever in the dragon’s nostril and stands within the runes for protection from the fire that fills the room. The dragon head opens revealing a tunnel to a burial chamber. Two gem encrusted coffins are on a pedestal in the center of the room. Dead bodies are found within the coffins. The coffins are slid aside and the druids use stone shape to uncover holes to small chambers within the pedestal. Preserved bodies are found within. Several magic rings, elven chain and a magical gem are found.

    Minor point – the tattoos appeared after the players went into certain alcoves. Only after drinking the well-water did the tattoo on Thud do its thing.
