Chewbacca and the Angry Dragon

Pausing in the opening of the chieftain’s cavern the group prepares to launch an all out assault on the camp denizens. At that moment the cleric – ostensible leader of the group – says ‘hey, we should go back and investigate the chamber of blackness not scouted earlier by the wizard’s eye’. The group does not object and reverses course. While the monk guards the rear the cleric unsheathes Siveredge and the brilliant light cuts through the darkness to reveal a cave ahead. As they advance the light reveals a scummy pond, natural columns, and a wall of humanoid skulls cemented together.
Pressing on, the group is not really surprised when a frog from the abyss appears in the pond. As the paladin prepares to engage, there is even less amazement when a second frog appears in the brackish water...

Traps? Magic? Check please!

Some bedrooms are investigated and a swarm of children’s toys try to kill the party members and are nearly successful. One of the bathroom tubs almost eats Elulyn. There are secret doors aplenty and traps are liberally sprinkled throughout the hidden passages. A rickety staircase leads up to the third floor of horror. There the group discovers some sort of secret lab replete with all manner of terribly deformed ‘people’. Limbs have been sawn off and replaced with tentacles and pincers, eyes have been gouged out and replaced with large insect eyes…truly this is a terrible sight...

Mirror mirror…image

The group payuses to ponder their options. Perhaps there is booty in the sacrificial pit? A rope is illuminated and the wizard’s all seeing eye wafts downwards alongside it. Alas, the bottom of the pit is a boneyard – every necromancer’s wet dream – but there is no sign of plunderables. Thai squares with the image of the writhing naked form being tossed over the edge earlier. Apparently these cultists strip the valuables off their victims before sacrificing them…very level headed.
So then – either up the secret staircase from whence they just came or beyond the webbed doorway. Doorway? Doorway. Beyond lies a long stretch of upward sloping terraces. These are climbed until such time as the party comes to a blank wall – no it is clearly a door, but no sign of a handle on this side.
This is w...

Obelisk? Where’s Asterix?

Leaving the village stockade the group journeys through the forest and returns to the mine. They beeline to the hidden door and spend two days traveling along the rough hewn corridor, then find the secret door at the journey’s end. Opening the door reveals a pulsing green obelisk surrounded by a pool of green viscous liquid. The cleric detects a trap and the mage detects strong magic. The group pulls back and lets the mage try and deal with it. A few dispel magic spells later, both magic and trap are suppressed. An ice wall over the pool lets the group proceed.
They encounter a bunch of larvae, egg sacs and full grown death moths. They set the room ablaze and slay the creatures with a minimum of trouble...
