The band of stalwart adventurers, having defeated the strange tentacled abomination and slain the cultists, having defeated the strane drow wurm, having entered the manor house of evil and rescued the poor victims of the terrible experiments and having returned them safely to the village now are advised that the danger to the region is not over. Some elven rangers bring more information about the evil lurking in the wilderness.
It seems that there are cannibals living in a run down hill fort about three days journey northeast from the Malthen mines.the elves seek assistance in rescuing their comrades and wish to bring retribution on those that captured, tortured and ate some of them.
The cleric negotiates for a 48 hour window in which to return to the temple complex that is being built near Immersea. A couple of plane shifts and they are back. The construction is slightly behind schedule but all is going well. Belushi has earned favor with the locals by hiring many of them for mostly unnecessary work, and has spread the wealth around. The party arrives and spends 24 hours wining and dining the local community and earning some more good will in the process.
Then it is back to the realm of the wailing fog. The elves set off with the group and the journey is mostly peaceful, given the wholesale destruction the party wrought upon the obelisks of evil. They find themselves in a thicket overlooking the fort. The party observes for most of the day and part of the night. It seems likely that time is limited in which to effect a rescue.
The mage sends out a wizard eye to survey possible locations where the prisoners might be held. The camp is surveyed and the prisoners located. A cave is also investigated…it seems to be the seat of power, as evidenced by a crude throne and tougher than average guards. The wizard returns to the prisoner pit invisibly, makes each of the captives invisible and gives them the power of flight. Thus the rescue is finished. While the elves guard the camp and care for the emaciated prisoners, the group mounts a punitive expedition.
They fly to the now vacated prisoner pit and break into a series of underground chambers. There they suprise and slay the chieftain and his bodyguards. They also tussle with a guest ir two, as well as a frog beast from the abyssal planes. After defeating the frog’s master, they find a tribeswoman impregnated with a tadpole spawn from hell. A tadpolectomy is undertaken and the woman is saved.
Moving swiftly now, for the camp is surely awakening, they advance through a series of chambers scouted by the wizard eye and continue dealing death to all in their path. A final sortie brings them to the cave mouth at the rear of the camp. There they plan how best to destroy the camp and slay as many of the cannibals as possible.
